LDAP Error: SERVER_DOWN({'desc': "Can't contact LDAP server"},)

When setting up LDAP authentication with Arcadia Visualization Server you may run into an error like this:

WARNING 9402 CP Server Thread-3
Caught LDAPError while authenticating xxxxxxx:
SERVER_DOWN({'desc': "Can't contact LDAP server"},)

OR

WARNING 9402 CP Server Thread-3
Caught LDAPError while authenticating xxxxxxx:
SERVER_DOWN({'desc': "Can't contact LDAP server",
'errno': 107, 'info': 'Transport endpoint is not connected'},)

This error usually indicates there’s an issue communicating with the LDAP server you’ve specified.

The first thing to check is where you can reach the LDAP server from the Arcadia Visualization Server:

telnet <LDAP server IP> <LDAP port>

Trying <LDAP server IP>...
telnet: connect to address <LDAP server IP>: Connection timed out

If you see “Connection timed out” in the response then you should consult experts internally that can help you open the firewall in your network between the Arcadia Visualization Server and the LDAP server/port.
